A thought, an experiment...

30 days, 30 creations.  For 30 days I am going to try and attempt to produce 30 new creations from your ideas.  I have a family, a job, and a life (at least I consider it that) so this is tailored to fit that context.  I have a problem of  taking too long to move a creative idea to artistic completion.  Sometimes its so long the completion never comes.  I need to stretch myself on quickness and creativity.  It's a speed exercise for a an artist who has become too used to running distance.  Its an experiment.  And hopefully it will be fun.  Here's the deal:
Each day I will take subject ideas from you (whoever you are) and produce something...er...creative from one of the suggestions.  If there is none, I will ask someone specifically for an Idea.  I will then spend some time in the evening making something related to the subject chosen.  Here's the fun part...Who's-ever's idea I work on, they will get whatever I create.  Hopefully that's a little incentive for some ideas.  I don't know what will result.  It may be a sketch, it may be a painting, it may be a sculpture, who knows!  It may be something you like.  I may be something you end up eating TV dinners off of.  It may be something you tell me to throw away quickly. -Hey, it's an experiment.  But it may be good for both of us.  First one starts March 18.  Please make your subject suggestion by posting it as a comment on the CURRENT DAY on this blog.  I will try and make a post each day with the winner from the previous day and a new request for subjects that day.  I am looking for subject ideas, not project ideas, -that's my part.  I really hope you guys throw some good random ideas out there for me.  Here's to a fun 30 days.

  4. John the Baptist, standing at an open door. Or, paint something on a rectangular piece of denim (Approx 7in by 6in).

  5. Romans 7:14-25 (New International Version)

14We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[a] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

21So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22For in my inner being I delight in God's law; 23but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. 24What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? 25Thanks be to God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God's law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.

  6. A man who's best friend is a cloud made up of animals and slurpees.

..... And.... If you wanted to know more, the man really likes to sit on the top of his apartment building in Detroit, and he doesn't jog nearly as often as he sports jogging suits.

  7. Wow, I think you guy's ideas are more creative than my interpretations of them are going to be. Thanks a ton for these ideas! I've been thinking about how to pick the one each day that I am going to do. I think I am going to put them in a hat and draw one out (Molly's idea). Three reasons for this: First, I don't want it to seem like I am picking people rather than ideas. Second, if this is going to be a stretching exercise for me then I don't want to pick the ones that I have the best or easiest solution for. Third, I don't want you guys coming up with your suggestions based on what you think I will pick. Capiche? I am not promising that I won't still make an executive decision on one of them if I REALLY want to do it. Like I said this is all uncharted territory for me so I may have to adjust things as it goes. Right now I am planning on doing the random selection around 5pm, then actually working on it in the evening, giving some time to think about it in between. At this beginning point any ideas or input on the plan are welcome too. Thanks again!

  8. The random selection has happened, -Molly drew it out of my baseball hat. The winner (or loser depending on how you look at it) is Ken's "A typical day if everyone in the world was a ninja.." wow.
I have dinner with my Brother and Sister-in-law for their birthdays and them I'm coming home and tackling this thing. I'll post the result and a new request for ideas late tonight or tomorrow morning.

  10. So I have been thinking, I may have to take a few stabs at this because my ideas maybe a little lame , but here it goes...
What the world would look like after the rapture: missing key people like for example airplane pilots.

    I'll keep thinking...

  11. Wow, this is quite an undertaking. Maybe you should have started with a project per week. :) My suggestion is "He will create in me a heart of flesh."

  12. If Trent and I ever release a CD for distribution it would be cool to have some sweet artwork on our album cover. Perhaps you could come up with something that coincides with our name: Ejection Seat.

  14. Hey guys, this entry is no longer where you leave new ideas. Those need to be left on the correct day before 5pm or so to be in the drawing for that day. Also, (and I'll elaborate more in a new post) I started this primarily as a way for me to get some starter concepts for me to interpret creatively. I am only looking for a random thought/concept/theme/etc. I'm not really looking for you to tell me what to create. For example,Joseph's idea above "4 foot of air" is a great one because that leaves a lot of room for interpretation on my part. Saying "a painting of three people waiting for a bus while its raining, one guy and two girls wearing..." is not really what I'm looking for. Saying "3 people waiting for the bus" would however be a great idea because I could interpret that a million different ways. does this make sense?
